Process of Hair Growth and Hair Removal
In every blog post, we aim to enlighten you on things ORGANIC GIRLY GREEN. The removal of hair process is all of that.
If you are anything like me, I dislike shaving but I love the after-effects of shaving. Well, that makes no sense since you need to do the first to get the results, but what if there was a way to eliminate that strawberry leg after-effect and get sexy smooth legs without the burns?
Studies show that hair growth can be slightly different for everyone, however, general hair growth for most people is downwards. Hair on the legs grows downwards to the feet, hair on the belly grows downwards to the navel, and hair on the face grows downwards to the chin.
Women should shave their face with small, clean, sharp razors in the direction of hair growth, sometimes cheek hair can grow sideways but the best way to shave them is downwards. Shaving downwards will guide the hair to how to grow and will prevent painful ingrown, or extremely coarse hair.
Basic Shaving Routine
- Preparing Your Skin:
Exfoliate to remove dead skin cells and unclog your pores. Finally, hydrate your skin with warm water or a pre-shave oil to soften the hair and open up the follicles. - Choosing the Right Shaving Cream:
Investing in a high-quality shaving cream or gel is crucial. Look for products that contain natural ingredients, such as aloe vera or tea tree oil, which soothe and nourish the skin. Avoid products that contain harsh chemicals or fragrances, as they can cause dryness or allergic reactions. - Mastering Shaving Techniques:
Now that your skin is prepared and your shaving cream is ready, it’s time to master the art of shaving. Use long, gentle strokes in the direction of hair growth to minimize irritation. - Aftercare and Post-Shave Routine -Proper aftercare is essential for maintaining smooth and healthy skin. Start by rinsing your skin with cold water to close the pores and soothe the skin. Pat dry with a clean towel and apply a gentle moisturizer to hydrate and nourish your skin In case there are razor burns or small cuts. Use an aftershave balm or lotion to calm the skin and promote fast healing.
- Choosing the Right Shaving Tools:
Investing in high-quality shaving tools is crucial for a superior shaving experience.
Safety Razors: A Classic Choice
Choose durable materials like stainless steel or brass, safety razors provide a close shave without the need for disposable cartridges. Simply replace the razor blade when necessary, resulting in less waste in landfills. Plus, safety razors often give a smoother and less irritating shave.
Natural Alternatives

- Sugar waxing – Wax should be around 105 degrees f and placed on the skin in thin layer , pulling in the opposite direction
- Shaving Soaps and Creams: Nourish Your Skin
Instead of chemical-laden aerosol shaving creams, opt for natural shaving soaps or creams. Look for products with plant-based ingredients like shea butter, coconut oil, and essential oils. These ingredients help moisturize and nourish the skin while providing a smooth surface for your razor to glide across. Not only will your skin thank you, but you’ll also contribute to reducing air pollution caused by aerosol propellants. - DIY Shaving Creams: Customization at Your Fingertips
For those who prefer a hands-on approach, creating your shaving creams can be a fun and rewarding experience. With ingredients like aloe vera gel, cocoa butter, and natural oils such as jojoba or almond oil, you can tailor the recipe to suit your skin’s specific needs. Experimenting with different combinations allows you to find the perfect blend that leaves your skin feeling hydrated and refreshed. - Electric Shavers: Eco-Friendly Convenience
If you’re not ready to part with electric shavers, consider investing in models that are rechargeable rather than battery-operated. This small change will significantly reduce the number of batteries ending up in landfills. Additionally, electric shavers tend to provide a gentler shave, minimizing the risk of irritation or cuts. - Epilators: A Longer-Lasting Solution
For those looking to extend the time between shaves, epilators are worth exploring. These handheld devices remove hair from the root, resulting in longer-lasting smoothness. While some find them uncomfortable at first, regular use can lead to finer regrowth over time. Plus, using an epilator eliminates the need for disposable razors, making it a sustainable choice.
