High-end makeup brands such as Lancome and Estee Launder claim to have the best products and formulas. Both brands have a loyal following, but which one is the go-to brand? Let’s get into the details of Lancome and Estee Lauder’s beauty offerings.
Formula and Key Ingredients
– Bifida Ferment Lysate vs. Yeast Extract: A Battle of Fermentation Ingredients-
Bifida ferment lysate is a probiotic ingredient derived from a specific type of yeast obtained by the fermentation of Bifida bacteria. Your skin will greatly appreciate this because it helps the skin be less reactive and helps the skin to repair itself . Hyaluronic Acid vs. Sodium Hyaluronate: Which One is Better for Dry Skin? Sodium hyaluronate is the salt form of the skin-replenishing ingredient hyaluronic acid, it forces your skin to retain moisture, it does the same thing as Hyaluronic acid . Your skin loves hyaluronic acid, even though it is reflected as salt.
- one of the best skin-replenishing ingredients ever known
- absorbed into the skin quickly even more than hyaluronic acid
- is already found in the skin, will soothe, restore balance and moisture to the skin
- Provides antioxidant that provides defense for the skin against harsh properties
– Propylene Glycol vs. Butylene Glycol: What’s the Difference?
They are both organic alcohols made from organic materials such as corn or even petroleum. Yea i know petroleum hit those warning bells in your head . But they are both used to bring moisture to the skin and soften it. Your skin will be protected from environmental harmful properties,
If you are alergic to propylene ,please know that, propylene seems to cause more irritation because its a bit stronger, and more offensive to the skin.
Coverage and Finish
let’s do a product analysis –
This is what happens when I put a small amount of product on the back of my hand, i can immediately determine medium Coverage vs. Full Coverage: Which One is More Suitable?
Estee Lauder gives full coverage , I wear a 6w1 this stays all day and doesn’t even move when you go for a workout. Lancome has medium coverage for me, it sets perfectly and would be suitable for an 8-hour professional workday.Lancome was once labeled for older women some years ago because it focused on antiaging and skin restoration. Today with a new formula Lancome is catering to young women even with their skin care products.
Both formulae have some common ingredients such as disodium EDTA, sodium hydroxide, sodium benzoate, potassium sorbate, pentylene glycol, caprylyl glycol, and ammonium polyacryloyldimethyl taurate. Still, there are specific ingredients that is only in Lancome such as Polymnia sonchifolia root juice, and seed extract. These ingredients are used for many reasons: freshness, help retain color, skin soothing, reactions, and so on. Labelling formulas good or bad is an opinion, some ingredients placed in the formulae help one and might not work for the other.
– Matte Finish vs. Dewy Finish: Is One More Long-Lasting?
The main difference between estée lauder and Lancome is the finish. Lancome works when I have a day of strategy and meetings and not much running around, i keep a professional dewy look all day. Estee Lauder gives me a matte finish all day wear when I have boots on the ground running around day to 10 meetings in a day.
Shades and Undertones
– Lancome’s Slight Yellow Undertone vs. Estee Lauder’s Neutral Undertone
A little goes a long way with lancome if you have that yellow undertone . Even though both cater to all skin tones and undertones. Lancome has cool, neutral, warm tones while Estee Lauder has light, medium, deep. Darker skin tones match well with deep and it seems to absorb quickly into the skin and stay all day.
Finding the Perfect Match: Tips for Shade Matching
little bit on the back of my hand helps with shade matching. once you rub it in a bit you can see how your body reacts to it. This is my finish look for estee lauder.
Longevity and Performance and recommendation
Which Foundation Holds Up Better? My holy grail foundation is Estee Lauder double wear, when I travel to the Caribbean it stays all day and i do have combination skin, which sometimes is not heat friendly. .
Oily Skin vs. Dry Skin: How Do Both Brands Cater to Different Skin Types?
Oily skin is prone to breakouts, the best recommendation would be Lancome, due to its thin light coverage which won’t clog pores. Dry skin could benefit from Estee Lauder due to its full coverage foundation and thick layering which adds moisture and helps to brighten skin tone overtime.

When it comes to high-end foundations, both Lancome and Estee Lauder have their own strengths and weaknesses. Lancome offers less of a matte finish because its lighter and has slight yellow undertone, while Estee Lauder provides a dewy finish and a neutral undertone. Regarding formula, both brands have key ingredients that cater to different skin types, but Estee Lauder may have a slight edge with their use of bifida ferment lysate.
